Cosy Autumn Nights In
Posted 08/11/2013 by BrightHouse Team
While a walk in the crisp autumn weather seems like a lovely idea, it often ends up just being a muddy squelch in the pouring rain. Sometimes you just want to curl up on the sofa and watch a bit of telly - that’s certainly what we like to do!
With that in mind, we thought we’d take a look at what great TV programmes will be appearing on our screens in the next couple of weeks, as well as some exciting new products and deals from BrightHouse.
One of our favourite programmes returns to ITV next week – the 13th series of I’m a Celebrity... Get me Out of Here! Still no official announcement on who will be going to the jungle, but there are plenty of rumours flying about. Former Westlife singer Kian Egan is said to have signed a pretty hefty deal to take part in the show, as well as Eastenders star , and big sister of Gary Oldman, Laila Morse. Geordie Shore’s Vicky Pattison has expressed her wish to be on the show before now, and she’s no longer appearing in the MTV reality show, so the odds seem pretty good that she’ll appear on our screens. Whoever it is, we can look forward to the usual delights of giant insects, coffins filled with rats, and kangaroo testicles.
I’m a Celebrity... Get me Out of Here! – ITV – Sunday 17th November 9pm
A show that’s already been keeping us glued to the sofa is Sky’s new adaptation of Bram Stoker’s Dracula, starring Jonathan Rhys Myers as the infamous vampire. The story has been uprooted from its Transylvanian roots, and transplanted to 19th century London, with Dracula posing as an American entrepreneur. The first episode saw Dracula throwing a lavish ball to launch himself onto the London social scene, and already formulating plans to expand his interests and ambitions. Meyers does an excellent job of playing the villain, giving him a brooding sophistication, and the whole production is just beautiful and stylish.
Dracula (episode 3) – Sky Living –Thursday 14th November 9pm
There’s also the current series of Misfits, with the next episode on Wednesday night. While the original cast may have long since gone, the newer characters are as punchy and exciting as ever, and as this is to be the final series of the show we can expect some fairly explosive happenings in the last few episodes.
Misfits (episode 4) – E4 – Wednesday 13th November 10pm
For lovers of fantasy and mythology, BBC One’s Atlantis rewrites history and legend in this exciting and action-packed series. There’s something for everyone here, and is a great show for kids and adults alike, thanks to the mix of humour, action, and special effects. The characters come from both legend and history, featuring a geeky Pythagoras, a less than heroic Hercules, and a cunning Jason of Argonauts fame.
Atlantis (episode 8) – BBC One – Saturday 16th November 8pm
If you’re a Doctor Who fan then you’ll want to catch BBC Two’s documentary drama about the much-loved sci-fi series’ creation, and the first three years of its life. Written by Sherlock’s Mark Gatiss, this one-off film is sure to be a thrill for fans, and an exciting part of the BBC’s celebration of the Doctor’s 50th anniversary. David Bradley will be playing the First Doctor, William Hartnell, and there will be a host of other actors portraying the various creators and designers behind the iconic TV show. The film will be shown on BBC Two and BBC Two HD on the 21st.
An Adventure in Space and Time – BBC Two – Thursday 21st November
