Celebrity Big Brother 2016

Celebrity Big Brother 2016 is entering its third week, and we’ve already enjoyed a fair bit of drama from the house. This season’s selection of celebs may not be the most glittering line-up, but there are plenty of interesting and colourful characters. We’re going to take a look at the biggest dramas so far, as well as make some predictions about who might emerge as the winner.
The story so far
The first housemate to be evicted began making himself unpopular before he even walked through the door. Political activist and candidate for London Mayor Winston McKenzie made some homophobic comments which were booed by the audience and quickly criticised on Twitter. He continued to cause controversy within the house, receiving a warning from Big Brother for his behaviour towards some of the female housemates. He was swiftly evicted on Day 4, with 13 out 14 nominations.
On Day 7 American reality star Jonathan Cheban decided to walk out of the house after struggling with the situation, claiming he was suffering from anxiety and claustrophobia. Many expected Angie Bowie to also leave the house after being told the sad news of the death of her ex-husband, David Bowie, but she has decided to continue for now.
The second round of evictions saw Nancy Dell’Olio get the boot, narrowly saving Jeremy McConnell and Angie from eviction. The latest round of nominations put four housemates at risk of leaving: Kristina, John, Tiffany, and Danniella, all chosen by the housemates who survived the public vote.
The most recent drama involves ex-Hollyoaks actress Stephanie Davies and ex-TOWIE star Gemma Collins, and their very vocal spat over Steph’s flirtations with Jeremy. Big Brother has taken the drastic step to isolate Stephanie after she threatened to punch Gemma Collins in the face. Though naturally Steph isn’t taking her confinement quietly.
Who’s going to win?
The current favourite to win, Scott Timlin, is a star of the reality show Geordie Shore. He’s the classic TV hunk, which could help win over at least half the viewers. He’s also very popular on Twitter with 1.2 million followers, giving him a big advantage when it comes to public votes. Looking at past winners, male housemates are nearly twice as likely to win Celebrity Big Brother when you look at the previous seasons. Reality TV stars tend to do well, too.
Darren is an actor and singer, and appeared on the first series of I’m a Celebrity Get Me Out of Here, and according to Google is currently the most searched for out of all the housemates. He’s also gotten away with only receiving one nomination since being in the house. Going by average winner stats, he’s also about the right age at 47. Scott is definitely in with a better chance, but Darren could very likely find himself a runner up.
A relatively unknown celebrity in the UK, Tiffany Pollard is a regular on several US reality TV shows, including Flavor of Love and I Love New York. She’s currently up for eviction thanks to Jeremy, but seems to be increasingly popular with the viewers according to polls on bbspy.co.uk. If she manages to keep up her current popularity she should find herself among the final few housemates, and the fact that she’s more of an unknown may end up working in her favour.
