Local area info
Exeter is the county town of Devon, as well as an historic cathedral city. The city was once a Roman town, and became an important religious centre through the Middle Ages after Exeter Cathedral was founded in the 11th century. It also developed as an important centre for the wool trade during the Industrial Revolution. There are many historic buildings in Exeter, including the Guildhall, and ‘The House that Moved’, a Tudor building that was strapped together and slowly moved to make way for a new road in 1961.
The BrightHouse Exeter store is on Sidewell Street in the centre of town, just past the Princesshay Shopping Centre. There is a pay and display car park on nearby Bampfylde Street, or the John Lewis multi-storey car park accessible from King William Street. There are also bus stops on Sidewell Street serving many local routes, as well as the bus station round the corner on Bampfylde Street. The store is also only ten minutes’ walk from Exeter Central railway station.
