Local area info
Carlisle is the county town of Cumbria, and is just ten miles south of the Scottish border. The town was originally a Roman settlement built to support the garrisons along Hadrian's Wall. It was also an important fortress in the Middle Ages, with Carlisle Castle once being a prison to Mary Queen of Scots. It later became a mill town for textiles during the Industrial Revolution, as well as a busy railway town. Today, the city still has most of its medieval walls, as well as many historic sites such as Carlisle Cathedral, the Old Town Hall, and the Guildhall Museum.
The BrightHouse Carlisle store can be found on Scotch Street in the centre of town, just off the Market Cross. There are bus stops nearby on West Tower Street serving all major local routes, as well as on Lowther Street on the other side of The Lanes Shopping Centre. We're also just a few minutes' walk from Carlisle railway station. There's also parking the shopping centre, and on Lowther Street.
